New Thrillers I'm Excited About

Liane Moriarty's first-ever sequel, two more big releases, and a new Netflix thriller film, all landing within days of each other.

Hey!

I find it hard to get time to myself to read in August. I’ve not been able to finish a book in two weeks.

So I thought I'd share with you the big releases I’m most excited about this week.

New books from Liv Constantine, Liane Moriarty, and Jennifer Hillier are all landing within days of each other, and Netflix has a new thriller film coming to boot.

Let's jump in.

New Thrillers I'm Excited About

Promise Me Never by Liv Constantine

Promise Me Never by Liv Constantine came out August 18. Aspiring writer Savannah schemes her way into meeting superstar horror novelist Bennett Bryson. After a whirlwind romance, she moves into his secluded home upstate and starts digging into the mystery of his first wife's death.

A fitting one after The Housewife, which I reviewed two weeks ago. A whirlwind romance and a first wife who died under murky circumstances are at the heart of both.

Big Little Truths by Liane Moriarty

Big Little Truths by Liane Moriarty comes out August 25. It's the first-ever sequel she has written, picking the story of Big Little Lies back up with the kids now in high school. A strange man starts lurking around the school asking questions, and the principal receives a severed human finger in the mail. HBO has already said that season 3 of the show will be based on this book.

I reviewed her short story The Price of Honey back in April, and the writing was great, so I'm curious to see what she does with a story this well known.

Heart of Glass by Jennifer Hillier

Heart of Glass by Jennifer Hillier also lands August 25. Twenty-five years ago, three inseparable teenage girls in a small Washington town met a charming drifter. Days later, one of them was found dead. Now the man convicted of her murder has recanted that confession on a true crime documentary, and another body has just washed up in town.

The Whisper Man on Netflix

The Whisper Man hits Netflix on August 28, based on the Alex North novel. Adam Scott plays a widowed crime writer whose young son is kidnapped, in circumstances that echo the crimes of a serial killer caught decades earlier. Robert De Niro plays his estranged father, the retired detective who caught the original killer.

That’s all for this week. See you next time.
